Tessa, who is extremely self-centered and self-congratulatory and views her own needs and desires as supreme is an example of Narcissism, and Tessa is referred to as narcissist. It is believed that narcissists  are selfish, vain, and a glutton for attention. 
Extreme narcissism can cross over to a mental illness called narcissistic personality disorder.
