Any variable that's quantitative uses numbers to identify it. For example, a person is 30 years old. Any variable that's qualitative uses words to describe it. For example, a person is skinny.

We are asked about weights of cases. Weights use a number, such as it weighs 10 lbs or 20 lbs. That tells us which to use.

Thus, this is a quantitative variable.
