Why is a model made to be simpler than the thing that it represents?

A model is made to be more straightforward than the things it represents because the model is made to understand the ideas it represents more simply. A model doesn't have to be as specific as the real thing because they are only examples to help one know something better, they are mainly visual to help make things simple.
