distribute parenthesis on both sides of the equation and simplify

3x - 7 - 4x = 10x - 8 + 1

- x - 7 = 10x - 7 ( subtract 10x from both sides )

- 11x - 7 = - 7 ( add 7 to both sides )

- 11x = 0 ( divide both sides by - 11 )

x = 0
