If a transverse wave measures 2 meters from peak to trough, what is the amplitude of the wave?

In waves, the amplitude (A) is defined as the distance between the origin to the peak or from the origin to the trough.

Then, From a peak to trough, there is two amplitudes

In our problem,

[tex]2 A = 2 m\\ A=\frac{2}{2} =1m[/tex]

Then the amplitude of the wave is 1 meter
