Hello from MrBillDoesMath!

Answer:

6

Step-by-step explanation:

distance between points (x1,y1), (x2,y2) is

sqrt ( (x1-x2)^2 + (y1-y2)^2 ).

In our case this becomes

sqrt  (  (-12 - (-12))^2 + (-8 - (-2))^2 ) ) =            => as -12 - (-12) = 0, -8 - (-2) = -6

sqrt (   0^2               + (-6)^2 ) =

sqrt(36) = 6

The answer makes sense as the line given in the Question is a vertical line. In this case, length = abs(difference of y values) =  abs( ( -8) -(-2) ) = 6

Thank you,

MrB
