Once someone tests positive for an STI (sexually transmitted infection), that person will be contacted by a health care provider from the STI site where the test took place. Treatment options will then be discussed and the sexual partners of the person whose test results returned positive will also be encouraged to take the same STI test to get treatment, if necessary.
