1)a slope of a line is (y2-y1)/(x2-x1)

  so (-3-1)/(8-4)

  -4/4=>m=-1

2)to find y-int replace any points in the equation by x and y

so    1=-1(4)+b

        1=-4+b

        1+4=b

so b= 5

therefore the equation is  y=-x+5   so d
