N=number
N - 20 > 2N
-20 > N

Step 1: Set up an inequality based on the words. twenty less means minus twenty or - 20. I used N for the unknown number. twenty less than a number, means N -20.  Is more than means its greater so N - 20 > than the twice the same number which is 2N. so N-20>2N is my inequality

Step 2: subtract N from both sides and you are left with -20 > N.  which means that N has to be less than -20. So, -21, -22, -23.... would all work.
