Jay caught two times as many fish as bob. together they caught 27 fish. how many fish did they each catch.

Let Bobs catch be x, then Jay's catch is 2x.
x + 2x = 27
3x = 27
x = 27/3 = 9

Therefore, Jay caught 2 x 9 = 18 fishes and Bob caught 9 fishes.
