I'm assuming the "x+2" is the exponent. If so, then

[tex]3^{x+2}*3^x = 3^{x+1}[/tex]

is false.

Recall that when we multiply exponential expressions of the same base, we add the exponents.

So it should be [tex]3^{x+2}*3^x = 3^{(x+2)+(x)} = 3^{2x+2}[/tex]

If the [tex]3^{x+1}[/tex] was [tex]3^{2x+2}[/tex], then the original equation would be correct.
