First, you have to compare same unit of measurement for uniformity. Convert feet to inches, knowing that 1 foot is equal to 12 inches.

3*12 = 36 inches

Each square brick is 3 inches wide. Divide the whole width of the path by the width of each brick to obtain the number of bricks:

36/3 = 12

Thus, there are 12 bricks in the path.
