Several groups criticized Roosevelt's New Deal. Conservatives believed the president was spending too much money from the state. The big businessmen claimed that by increasing taxation, Roosevelt was hurting their business. Some other groups raised other problems, such as Father Charles Coughlin, who preached for the nationalization of the banks.
