chromosomes are duplicated; and the G2 phase is the second growth phase. The characteristics of a G2 cell include a well-defined nucleus bounded by a nuclear envelope, two centrosomes next to the nucleus, one or more nucleoli, duplicated chromosomes, and a pair of centrioles in every centrosome and a radial mictorubular array around the centrioles, in animals.
