What does the "Coyote and the buffalo" teach or explain?

Well the characters are a sort of tricksters, they engage in deceit, magic and violence.It teaches how some aspect of animal and human life came to be. It teaches us not to be so greedy like the coyote, as he took way more than he needed from the cow and later learned his lesson when left with nothing at all.
