Recall that [tex]\arcsin x[/tex] is only defined for [tex]-1\le x\le1[/tex], and under this condition we have that [tex]\sin(\arcsin x)=x[/tex]. But 1.7 > 1, so [tex]\arcsin1.7[/tex] is not a real number.
