Given that pentagon ABCDE≅pentagon JFGHI ,CD=3x-5, BC=2x+3, GH=7x-17 and HI=5x-12 solve for x

Since the 2 pentagons are congruent, then the sides are also congruent. Which means that side CD is equal to side GH:

CD = GH

3 x – 5 = 7 x – 17

Simplifying:

4 x = 12

x = 3     (ANSWER)
