For f(x) = 2x + 8, find x when f(x) = -7.

-7 = 2x + 8
Solve for x. First subtract 8 to both sides.
-7 - (8) = 2x + 8 - (8)
-15 = 2x
Divide by 2.
-15/(2) = -2x/(2)
